Historical overview

Pathanapuram's history traces to Thenmala Desam, a small principality whose capital was Pathanapuram. Later, Thenmala Desom became part of Elayidathu Swaroopam, whose capital was at Kottarakkara. Pathanapuram served as the capital of one of the two districts of Elayidathu Swaroopam. [1]

A significant chapter in the transformation of the region is associated with Thoma Mar Dionysius Metropolitan, who in 1929 came to Pathanapuram and established Mount Tabor Dayara, beginning a new chapter in the area's spiritual, educational, and social development. [1]
