Community Development in Kerala

Kudumbasree units in Kerala can contribute a lot for increasing the status of the society. In order to develop a society, first of all we have to think upon the economic status. Once the economic status is improved, the other aspects can be sorted out easily. All of us are aware that we are totally depended upon outside States for Vegetables. We all are using vegetables daily. Similarly, did you think how much money we are spending for procuring raw food items daily and that too almost all the items which we procure are coming from outside States. Can`t we think of at least cultivating vegetables for a day in month and thereafter 2 days in a month and 3 days in month and so on.....I can assure that if we are coming forward defenitely 100% self reliance on vegetable cultivation can be achived in 100 days. For example to start in an experimental basis we have to adopt one ward in a panchayat or corporation and with the help of Kudumbasree units, residential associations, youth clubs, NGOs with the close collaboration with local bodies and Agricultural Officers, it can easily be achieved.
The vegetable cultivation is only an example for increasing the status of the community, there are many other additional income generating programmes can be easily taken up in Kerala if we are ready to cooperate. Once the economic status of the society is little bit improved, the other aspects for community development such as Health, cleanliness, attitudes, mutal understanding, career development etc. etc. can be attempted and ultimately the life style of the community will be flourished.
